Brixen/Bressanone, Sued-Tirol,
Italy 23 – 27 April 2008
The Hollawind Festival for
children was held for the third time, organized by TPZ Brixen - but in
reality mostly by Heidi Troi, who did a perfect job. The town of Brixen
is a good location for the festival, because it is small but attractive
with a historical centre, with beautiful views on the mountains, some
of which still had snow on top.
We saw performances from
different countries, such as Israel, England, Austria, Czech Republic
and Germany. Three TPZ groups also gave acte de présence.
Israel showed us ’Scapino’,
taking place in trattoria Mamma Mia, based on Molière’s play. A lively,
fast performance with music and songs, very simple but effective
scenery, with humor and with good acting. Not only commedia dell’arte,
but also Asian, African and Oriental elements could be detected, which
made it a real multi-cultural performance.
The German group took us to
Brazil with an adaptation of Daniil Charms’ ‘The trip to Brazil’ in
which the young boy Kolja makes his dream come true. At the end he is in
Brazil, or is it Leningrad?
A performance full of fantasy,
with nice, effective requisites and a lot of visuality.
The English group showed us a
very modern version of ‘Romeo and Julia’, without scenery, with songs
and in modern clothes. The many scenes were played in fast speed and
with enthusiasm. The final scene (both lovers are dead, as you know) was
touching.
The Czech group HOP HOP showed
the ‘Fire Bird’, a visual performances with the little amount of text in
German, especially done for a foreign audience. The 12 performers showed
good coordination in their acting and brought the story of the fire
bird, which came to the people when they did not have fire yet, to life
with dedication.
TPZ participated with three
groups.
The VIOLET one with a
performance about teachers and students, ‘Teachers are also human
beings’. In a number of short scenes we see wild animals, monkeys,
according to the wish of the players who contributed a lot to the
performance themselves. The play starts and ends with a girl that likes
going to school: the circle is closed.
The ORANGE group performed ‘I
am famous’ in which the girls showed in a simple way that thinking that
you are famous not always means that other people think so as well. Very
nice was the visual effect of the continuous use of a red scarf, worn by
the then famous girl, who started her scene in the same position as the
former famous girl ended hers. With humor, without unnecessary elements.
The PINK group showed a lot of
enthusiasm in ‘You too’ , a sort of court case held by the gods and
goddesses in the underworld in order to find out who killed Caesar.
All the gods have their
peculiarities, some of which were very funny.
At the end Brutus says ‘Ich war
es’, to which Caesar answers ‘Warst du?’ (It was me – Was it you?).
This 3rd HOLLAWIND
was a very successful festival, to which all persons present
contributed.
Thanks to everybody and
Congratulations.
