The
idea behind the 5th International Meeting of Youth Theatre sapperlot is to get
feedback about the own theatre work which isn’t as easy in the field of the
youth theatre.
The
sapperlot team is arranging lots of possibilities for getting feedback:

in
the youth theatre conference the leaders discuss the criteria of quality in the
youth theatre

young
people meet with a theatre expert to reflect the production which have been
shown the day before
-
in a
daily festival magazine students of schools from Brixen write their opinions
about the performances
-
a
youth jury looks for the “best” performance
We
expect from the applying groups and group leaders that they are interested in a
reflection of the own work and that they really want to learn more about
theatre.
One
condition to participate in the sapperlot is therefore that the actors are able
to express themselves in a basically English and to follow a discussion in
English.
sapperlot is a festival from young people for young people.
A
team consisting of adults and young people is selecting the groups and is
arranging everything from fringe events to the programme. Also in the time
before of the festival our young people will try to get in contact with the
participating groups and it would be helpful if our partners would answer to
these first letters/mails. So you will get not only guests for one time but also
partners in organizing this festival.
Last
but not least: The idea behind the International Meeting of Youth Theatre
sapperlot is to create a network in the European youth theatre. Therefore you
will meet “old” friends in the festival but also new groups will get into the
sapperlot-family and with this into the sapperlot – youth theatre – network (SYN).
Conditions
We
can host up to 12 + 2 persons per group. The groups have to pay the lodging in
the Youth Hotel for the surplus people. If possible actors are hosted in guest
families. Group leaders are hosted in the Youth Hotel. Groups which prefer to
stay in the Youth Hostel have to pay the lodging expenses by themselves.
We
are sorry that we are not able to give travel contributes. All groups have to
bear the costs for the travel by themselves.
Performances should be suitable for an international audience. Spoken parts
should be spoken in the native language. For this it is important to give us
detailed information about the contents of the play so that we can prepare
flyers for the audience.
Performances should be between 45 and 75 minutes.
We
have two stages, where the groups can stay for at least two hours to prepare
themselves for the performance.
